How to compress an image

  1. Tap the box above and choose one or more images.
  2. Drag the quality slider - lower quality means a smaller file.
  3. Optionally set a max width to shrink big photos further.
  4. Press Compress Image - the smaller file downloads automatically.

Large photos are slow to email and upload. Compressing re-encodes the image at a lower quality and, optionally, a smaller size, cutting the file size dramatically while still looking good. Everything happens on your device, so even private photos stay private.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything runs inside your browser using JavaScript, so your images never leave your device.

How much smaller will the file be?

It depends on the photo and the quality you pick, but 60-90% smaller is common for JPGs.

Will it reduce quality?

Compression trades a little quality for a much smaller size. At 70-80% the difference is usually invisible.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free with no signup and no watermark.
